Regenerate Your Farm: Master Holistic Land & Grazing Planning

This cours will be Hands-On, Practical, and Supported Long-Term!

Are you a livestock farmer ready to stop reacting to your land, are you tired of the feeling of running after the facts? … start regenerating it on purpose!

Many farmers face the same challenges:

  • Overgrazed pastures, slow recovery, bare patches
  • Unpredictable grass growth and feed shortages in dry periods
  • High costs for extra feed, fertilizer or fencing
  • The feeling that nature is working against you instead of with you

Planning your grazing holistically (Based on Holistic Planned Grazing from the Savory Institute) changes that. It’s not just moving animals around – it’s a powerful planning system that uses your livestock as the key tool to rebuild soil, boost forage production, increase biodiversity, and improve profitability.

In this intensive 3-day course you will:

  • Map and inventory your own land during the course: bring your farm maps, photos and knowledge – we help plan your land into practical paddocks, identify land types, issues, water points, and opportunities.
  • Learn the science of grass growth cycles, rest periods, seasonal differences, and how timed animal impact builds deeper roots, better soil, and drought resilience.
  • Create your first personalized grazing plan and land plan – step-by-step, using grazing charts, and practical guidelines tailored to your operation.
  • Experience hands-on fieldwork: outdoor Land Discovery Tour to observe ecosystem processes, brittleness scale, forms of animal impact and learn from landscape examples at Ton´s farm
  • Understand how these elements work: ecosystem processes, tools to work with complexity, balancing livestock production with nature regeneration.
  • Leave with a concrete draft plan and grazing plan for your farm that you can start implementing immediately.

And the support doesn’t stop after 3 days

After the course, we facilitate peer to peer learn in online regular group video calls (in the weeks and months following). Bring your questions, share progress, discuss challenges, adjust plans – get peer support and guidance to make sure your grazing plan succeeds on your land.

Proven results farmers achieve:

  • Higher carrying capacity – run more animals without extra inputs
  • Healthier soil, more water retention, faster pasture recovery
  • Better animal performance from nutrient-dense regrowth
  • Lower costs (less bought-in feed, fertilizer, vet interventions)
  • Increased biodiversity, carbon sequestration, and climate resilience
  • Greater farm profitability and peace of mind

This course is built especially for **cattle, sheep, goat or mixed livestock farmers** who want practical, field-tested regenerative tools – without overwhelming theory or big investments.

Practical details:

  • Format Different workforms and highly interactive – presentations, outdoor excursions, group workshops focused on your individual land and plan
  • Bring with you: Basic farm map/info (even rough sketches or Google Earth prints work!)
  • When: 5, 6, 7 May 2026
  • Where: Domaine Les Gonies, 46700 Mauroux
  • Investment: 350,- € (includes materials, field trips, coffee/snacks, lunches)
  • Limited spots: We work with small groups for maximum personal attention and realplanning work

Who teaches the course?

Ton Kodden.

After completing his education in agriculture and forestry, he joined the farm in 2000. From around 2010 onward, he gradually designed the land according to permaculture principles. In 2015, he began experimenting with various forms of grazing plans, but in 2020 he discovered the Holistic Management grazing framework from the Savory Institute. This approach immediately felt like the most comprehensive and effective system to him.

In 2022, Ton completed the official training. Since 2024, he has been an **Accredited Professional Educator** for the Holistic Management Framework of the Savory Institute. In the spring of 2025, he additionally completed training to become a monitor for the **EOV program** (Ecological Outcome Verification).

Through daily hands-on work with the animals in nature, Ton continues to learn something new every day. This provides him with fresh insights time and again to enhance the health and vitality of the soil, soil life, animals, nature, and not least, ourselves. He gladly shares this ongoing practical experience and development in his courses, allowing participants to directly benefit from the knowledge gained on the farm.

Welmoed Bogers

Welmoed started her journey into foodsystems while she lived and worked on a BioDynamic farm in the Netherlands over a decade ago. Through strong observation she realised it is our own, human decisions and management that shape our landscapes and our society. But how can we turn this talent into regeneration?

Then she found Holistic Management in 2020; the most practical and effective way to turn the gift of choice into building a resilient and thriving ecosytem. She studied with Sheila Cooke and Leon Bucher. Since 2024 she is an Accredited Professional Educator for the Holistic Management Framework and has been trained as a monitor for the EOV program in the spring of 2025.

With her curiousity, observational skills and practical thinking Welmoed loves to support change leading to a greener, living and inclusive future.
